The per capita per day milk availability in Haryana has reached the level of 878 grams as compared to the national average of 329 grams.
“Haryana is the only state in the country to make available pasteurized A-2 cow milk through vita booths in the state. With the hard work of our farmers and extensive support from the Haryana Government, the per capita per day milk availability has witnessed an increase in the state,” said an official spokesman.
He said that in the endeavour to tackle the problem of stray bulls as well as increasing milk production by increasing the number of female cattle, the State Government had proposed to adopt sexed semen technology on massive scale in 2018-19.
Under this technology, about 90 per cent of cow calves born would be female, thus solving the problem of stray bulls and simultaneously, ensuring increased availability of female cattle for milk production, said he.
The spokesman further said that the state is the proud repository of world famous Murrah breed of buffalo. For further development, propagation and conservation of Murrah germplasm, Murrah Research and Skill Development Centre would be set up at Narnaund sub-division, Hisar during 2018-19.
This Centre would go a long way in ensuring holistic development of Murrah breed of buffaloes, providing skill development training to women, unemployed youth and farmers for value added products of dairy or dairy farming for self- employment, said he.
Further to provide educational opportunities in veterinary field, a Veterinary livestock Development Diploma College would be established at lakhnaur Sahib, Ambala under lala lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar, he added.
