'Middle class' mandatory for group D posts in Hry

In a major decision related to Government recruitments, Haryana Government on Monday announced that minimum educational qualification for group D posts will be prescribed as ‘middle pass’ (VIII class).

A communiqué to this effect was issued by the Chief Secretary’s office to all the departments here on Monday.

It stated, “It has come to the notice of the Government that currently the minimum educational qualifications for group D posts are varying across departments. Some departments prescribe no educational qualification except knowledge in Hindi and English. Some have middle pass as qualification while others have matriculation or XII.”

Now, it has been decided by the Government that minimum qualification for group D posts may be prescribed as “middle pass”, said the communiqué.

For this purpose, the relevant service rules shall be amended by the concerned departments at their own level without obtaining the approval of CMM/GAD/Finance Department and Haryana Staff Selection Commission. However, the said provision may be made in the relevant service rules after getting it vetted from law Department only, it added.

Recently, the Haryana Government had announced to scrap interview process for the Group C and D posts. The decision is expected to curtail corruption and unnecessary political influence in the government recruitments.

Meanwhile, the State Government has dissolved the Selection Committees constituted by the General Administration Department for conducting interviews of the candidates against the vacancies of group D posts with immediate effect.

The Selection Committee 1 included City Magistrate as Chairman, whereas District Elementary Education Officer and District Employment Officer as its members, said an official spokesman. He said Selection Committee 2 included District Development and Panchayats Officer as Chairman, whereas District Education Officer and Joint or Deputy Director, District Industries Centre as its members.
