A memorial of martyrs to be setup at Ambala Cantonment would have memorial for Jhansi Ki Rani, Tatya Tope besides martyrs of Haryana and other States who attained martyrdom in the revolution of 1857. Haryana Health and Sports and Youth Affairs Minster Anil Vij on Sunday said that the Chief Minister Manohar lal would lay foundation stone of memorial on May 11 after which its construction work would pick up pace.
Vij addressed the people after “Bhoomi Pujan” ceremony at the site near Ambala-Delhi Marg where this memorial would be set up. The Minister said that the setting up of this memorial is historic and future generations would always remember the present Government for this important step. He said that on his single request, the Chief Minister acceded for setting up this memorial of international level.
The State Government would bear all the expenses to set up this memorial and this memorial would not only be visited by people of Haryana but also by people from all over the country, he added. On the occasion, he also released a book ‘Ek aur Inquilab’ based on the revolutionaries and authored by poetess Anamika Walia.
