Sukhwinder had a horrific experience in the wee hours of Saturday, when his wife, admitted at the General Medical College and Hospital Sector 32, choked to death due to breathing problems. He has been attending to patients as a ward boy at the hospital, but during the incident he was rendered helpless.

In a fit of rage he smashed two glass panes of the emergency ward, creating a ruckus following which cops were called. According to sources, the deceased was admitted to the hospital for high fever, but around 1 am on Saturday she started complaining of severe chest pain and problems in breathing.

When her condition started to worsen she was shifted to the emergency ward. Meanwhile, her husband who works as a ward boy here went looking for the doctor who was on duty. The doctor was nowhere to be seen.

By the time doctor attended to the patient her conditions deteriorated, following which she died. After her death, Sukhwinder lost his cool and smashed two glass panes of the emergency ward with his bare hands.

After the incidence he was detained by the police for sometime, but as no complaint was registered against him by the hospital administration, no case was registered. In the meantime the body was sent for cremation which has marred all the possibility of autopsy. When contacted, the Medical Superintendent Dr AK Jalmeja said an enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
