To deal with the stray cattle menace in the City Beautiful, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has decided to rope in more cattle catchers from outsourcing agency.
The 231st meeting of Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of Municipal Corporation held under Mayor here decided to engage 25 cattle catchers from outsourcing agency. During its ongoing stray cattle catching drive, 20 stray cattle were impounded by the MCC on Monday from Municipal limits of Chandigarh. So far, the MCC has impounded over 300 stray cattle during its ongoing drive.In last five months, three city residents have succumbed to their injuries after an accident with stray cattle at night in the southern sectors of the city. Meanwhile, the F&CC passed various agenda items of development and policy during the meeting. It included procurement of air conditioner for civil dispensaries under MCC, deployment of 35 police personnels in MCC, purchase of uniform for fire and emergency service staff of MCC, conversion of free parking to paid parking in Sector 17-E, behind Sagar Ratna restaurant.
The Committee also fixed reserve price @ `15.64 lakh for auction of exhibition ground in front of furniture market, Sector 34 here for Diwali Mela from October 20 to November 5.
