The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has declared its office building at sector 17 ‘Zero Waste Campus’. Sarbjit Kaur, Mayor and Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, checked all the arrangements of collection of waste and its scientific disposal at the office premises on Monday. Kaur said that provisions have been made at floor level to collect stationery waste i.e. paper and other items; red colored bins for sanitary waste collection have been provided at each toilet block of ladies at every floor; wet waste composter in canteen at fifth floor. While e-waste containers and old cloth containers have been provided at ground floor besides providing big compost for green waste in the lawn of the office compound.
