To bring transparency and solve problems faced by the general public, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has simplified the process of issuing Fire NOCs and prepared proformas for different categories of buildings as per NBC-2016 for the same.
B. Purushartha, Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh said that every category of proforma have all the details of owner of the building and different requirements regarding floors, covered areas etc. of the building. This also includes all the fire safety measures required in that specific building.
He said that this proforma also has a provision for SFOs to give their recommendations and in case of any deficiency to give notice to the owner of the building mentioning date and time by which he suppose to remove the deficiency.
The Commissioner said that this proforma will be put on the official website of MC for the convenience of the public and they can view and download the proforma which is applicable in respect of their building. Further steps are being initiated to make the process of fire NOC online, he added.
Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has around 2.5 lac units comprising of residential, commercial & industrial buildings and as per fire safety act all the buildings need to be fire compliant as per National Building Code 2016.
