To provide fresh and quality packed food to the children in some schools, Punjab Government has decided to rope in state’s cooperative Markfed under the mid day meal scheme.
Punjab State Food Commission’s chairman DP Reddy said that Markfed is tapped for providing quality packed food to the school children in some schools on the trial basis as a pilot project under the mid day meal scheme. If the scheme is successful, it could be extended to other schools, he said.
‘MAHAFED’ PRODUCTS IN PUNJAB
Maharashtra’s Mahafed’s products will now be available for sale in Punjab. The Cooperation Ministers of both Maharashtra Subhashji Deshmukh and Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Wednesday inaugurated the sale of Mahafed products at Markfed Bazaar in Chandigarh’s Sector-22.
As a part of an agreement between the two states, the products of Punjab’s Markfed would be available for sale in Maharashtra’s Pune and Nagpur by the end of this month considering the great demand these products command there.
Deshmukh, who arrived specially at the invitation of Randhawa for the inauguration of 65th All India Cooperation Week, said that both Punjab and Maharashtra are predominantly agrarian states where cooperation sector occupies a place of prominence.
