Manohar lal holds roadshow in Rohtak

On a roadshow spree to reach out to the people ahead of 2019 parliamentary and assembly polls, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Thursday held a roadshow in Rohtak, the stronghold of his Congress’ predecessor Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

In an election mode, the Chief Minister alongwith Minister of State Manish Grover and party MlAs interacted with the public from an open jeep during the roadshow.

While addressing them, Manohar lal also highlighted various welfare schemes of his government.

Such roadshows have been held in Yamunanagar and Faridabad in the past.

Rohtak, which was the epicentre of the 2016 violent Jat agitation, is considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. During lok Sabha polls 2014, Congress had managed to retain its Rohtak seat, with Deepender Singh Hooda being the only Congress candidate recording victory during the polls.

Reacting to Manohar lal’s Rohtak roadshow, senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda had said that the CM is looking for an assembly seat to contest polls through these roadshows

Notably, the BJP chief Amit Shah had last year spent three days in Rohtak as an attempt to woo voters in the district. In February,  Amit Shah had also addressed a ‘Yuva Hunkar Rally' at Jind, sounding the poll bugle for 2019 general elections.

While lok Sabha polls are scheduled in May 2019, the assembly polls in Haryana are likely to be held in October 2019.

Ahead of the polls, the Chief Minister is scheduled to cover all districts through roadshows, during which he interacts with the people and take their feedback on his government’s functioning.

Manohar lal will also cover all assembly constituencies to review progress of projects and his announcements made during his previous visit. The Chief Minister had recently sought from the party leaders, the demands of development works to be undertaken ahead of the 2019 polls in their respective areas.

During his more than three-year tenure in Haryana, Manohar lal has already held meetings in all 90 assembly constituencies and also held two-day visits of all 22 districts in Haryana.

He had also held   discussions with the party leaders from all district units to take feedback about the performance of government and gauge the public mood about BJP’s overall governance in the state.

last year, the Chief Minister had to face the criticism of his own party MlAs over slow pace of implementation of his announcements made related to projects in 90 assembly constituencies.

Under fire for his alleged “dictatorial” working style, the former RSS pracharak Manohar lal has now been making all out efforts to reach out to the general public besides presenting a united face of the state party unit to take on opposition parties in Haryana.
