Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday assured MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda to positively consider the demand of Haryana for setting up low cost airport and Greenfield cargo airport in the State.
The assurance comes in the wake of the Government proposal to set up 51 new low cost and 8 new Greenfield airports in the country. Hooda called on Prime Minister in New Delhi. During his meeting he apprised Singh about various demands of the State.
After his meeting, Deepender said that he has urged the Prime Minister to include Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul airfields in the list of new low cost airports and develop these as airports. He said that he also urged for the inclusion of Bhani Bharo, near Meham in the list of Greenfield cargo airports. The Airport Authority of India had already declared the proposal of the State Government for the cargo airport feasible and the Defence Ministry had issued a no objection certificate for the same in the year 2011, he added.
Hooda said that Haryana is in close proximity to New Delhi and making progress day by day. Karnal, Hisar and Narnaul already have airfields. The proposed cargo airport in Bhani Bharo would be in the NCR with a good rail and road connectivity. A major portion of Haryana has either become industrial or educational hub and in coming times the cargo airport in the State would create its own traffic without any competition.
There are ample possibilities in the civil aviation field in the coming times and Haryana should have active participation in it, he added.
