'Mandi bus stand would be completed within 2 months'

Himachal Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Anil Sharma in a rejoinder to BJP leader and former Transport Minister Thakur Mahinder Singh has said that the local bus stand would be completed within the next two months.

He denied the allegations of the BJP leader that he (Anil Sharma) had stopped the work of the bus stand. The Minister said that enquiry was going on against the executing agency and for that reason the work of the bus stand had been stopped. Now the left over work would be done by the PWD and it would be completed within two months from now, he added.

Anil Sharma added that he had not only made the Milk Federation viable but it has also started earning profit.  In the first year, it earned a profit of Rs5 crore and the successive year profit went up to Rs8 crore. He announced that a sum of Rs1 crore bonus would be awarded to the best milk collection society.

The week-long visit of Mandi district by Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh,  beginning from April 29 would help accelerate many ongoing works in the district, said the Minister.

He also claimed that his another landmark achievement was the permanent solution of the drinking water problem of Mandi town which had been reeling under acute drinking water shortage over the past 6 decades.

With the sanction of Rs50 crore gravity drinking water supply scheme under which water would be drawn from Uhl, the tributary of Beas, the water problem would be solved. Tenders would be floated on May 10  and the work would be done on a war-footing, he added.
