A 35-year-old man on Tuesday morning committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence at Khuda lahora. The deceased identified as Sunil Kumar has blamed his wife and brother-in-law for taking this extreme step, claimed police.
Police officials said that Sunil was under stress for a long time as he had a doubt on his wife’s character.
A suicide note which was recovered from the spot has held his wife and brother-in-law (Ravi) responsible for the extreme step. The suicide note also confirmed that the brother of his wife Kavita Devi had assaulted him several times.
Kavita in her statement to police said that she went to live in her maternal home on Monday night which is also in the same locality and returned on Tuesday morning. When Sunil did not open the door of the kitchen after several attempts, she informed neighbours and police who opened the door.
Police found Sunil hanging with the ceiling fan in kitchen and rushed him to Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector-16 where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased was working in a private company as a security supervisor and had been living here in Khuda lahora with his family.
“A case against Kavita and Ravi is registered after the allegations in suicide note found from the spot, however no arrest in the case has taken place yet. While the dead body of decease is sent for post-mortem examination, further investigation is under progress,” said Ashish Kapoor, DSP (Central) UT Police.

The incident came in light on Tuesday early morning when his wife noticed that Ajaib Singh was not on his bed where he was sleeping during the night. She got up and looked for him only to found him hanging in the other room.
The dead body of deceased was handed over to his family on Tuesday by the police. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot; however the family confirmed to police that he was in depression for past few days.
“Ajaib missed both of his brothers whom he loved dearly. He used to talk about them and meeting them,” the family told the police.
Apart from his two brothers, his third brother was mentally challenged. The deceased’s daughter is also mentally challenged while his two sons are unemployed. All these added to his woes as he was the only bread winner of the family, police added.
