Strongly reacting to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s statement against him, the State BJP president Shawet Malik on Sunday said  he did not deny the fact that people of Punjab has elected Capt Amarinder as Chief Minister.

“As Member Parliament and President of BJP Punjab, I have full authority and I am duty bound to raise my voice for the rights of people of Punjab. I, as a representative of people of Punjab, just want to know that the sacred manifesto released in January 2017 was just to befool people of Punjab to take votes and betray them later,” he said.

He asked, “CM Sahib, Punjab, I, People of Punjab wanted to know that 174 weeks have passed, “has drug trade been wiped out and de addiction centre’s established as promised? Have jobs been provided to 32 lakhs people of Punjab? Have job been provided to 12 lakh Dalits as promised? Have unemployment allowance of Rs 2500 per month to unemployed people of Punjab being implemented? Have 50 lakhs smartphones been distributed to the youth?”

He also questioned capt Amarinder regarding his pre-poll promises of Rs 90,000 crore debt of farmers, implementing new industrial policy, providing power at Rs five per unit, giving employees’ salary on time, sand mafia, mining mafia, liquor mafia, besides hiking Shagun amount to Rs 51,000 and old age pension to Rs 2,000.

“Central Government dishes out a number of welfare schemes which Punjab Government is not ready to implement just under the pretext of empty coffers and trying to deny people their rights and benefits,” he said.
