Punjab Water Resources and Revenue Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria on Tuesday strictly directed the senior officials to make all preparations for flood control in the State from next year by February.
For the same, all the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to submit their reports to the concerned departments and officials of flood control till January from next year so that all requisite arrangements could be accomplished in the month of February every year.
Besides, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh has also been directed to get the funds released on priority basis to the flood hit districts so that works in this regard could be carried out well in time.
The directions were issued by Sarkaria, while presiding over a high level meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners, after the as the review meeting scheduled in May does not come out with significant results.
Seeking detailed information about the rivers, seasonal choes and drains from DCs, Sarkaria asked them to ensure completion of cleanliness work, where needed, in the districts well in time.
