Punjab’s Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Tuesday filed a defamation suit against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national spokesperson Sanjay Singh at the district Court.
The case lodged by him was filed in the court of Judicial Magistrate Bikramdeep Singh under section 499/500 (defamation) of IPC.
In his complaint, Majithia, who is also the grandson of a former the Union minister Surjit Singh Majithia and elder brother of Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, rejected the allegation, which was levelled against him by the AAP leader Sanjay Singh of having patronised the drug mafia, saying that it was baseless. He further said that the allegation has damaged his reputation.
“I have filed a criminal defamation case against Sanjay Singh for his remarks. I will send him to jail for the defamatory remarks he has made against me. I will not let him go,” Majithia told the reporters after coming out of the court.
Sanjay Singh, who is also the AAP’s Punjab affairs’ in-charge had alleged that Majithia is behind the drug (synthetic) trade in the State and we will put him behind bars when we come to power here in the State.
After the filing of the defamation case, Sanjay Singh has stated that he reiterates that the curse of drug trade in Punjab is being petronised by Majithia only.
“Not just once but I would thousand times say that Majithia is the kingpin of drug mafia operating in the State of Punjab. I am not scared of him and would say thousand times that he is the drug lord”, said Sanjay Singh in a statement, which was issued.
