Slamming Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Congress Government in the State for allegedly not providing ample financial help and a Government job to kin of a martyr of Muaana village here, a mahapanchayat has threatened to boycott all political parties in the village if the Government does not announce to accept its demands till September 20.

A stern action would also be taken against those villagers who found to be either inviting any political leader or organising political programme or meeting at the village, said the mahapanchayat. Decision to this effect was unanimously taken at a meeting organised at Mahu Patti chaupal of the village here recently. The meeting, which was attending a large numbers of people from nearby villages, also threatened to launch an indefinite dharna at mini secretariat here if the Government does not take any firm action in this regard soon.

Speakers in the mahapanchayat criticised the State Government for not coming ahead to extend ample monetary succor to kin of the martyr Rajender Rana who had sacrificed his life while fighting against the terrorists at Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir on July 27 last.

“Such political party has no moral right to remain in power as they do not respect their martyrs. It is matter of great concern and shame for the entire State that family members of a martyr and their co-villagers are being forced to come on the road for getting their due rights,” said the villagers in the mahapanchayat, alleging that the congress Government was virtually disrespecting the martyr by not offering a Government job and adequate financial aid to Rana’s family.

The villagers also threatened that they would not tolerate such sort of ‘indifference’ attitude of the Government towards martyr and would launch a protest against it if it does not soon accept their demands which included Rs 10 lakh financial aid and a Government job to next kin of the martyr Rajender Rana.

The mahapanchayat also resolved to submit a memorandum of their demand to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda through Jind Deputy Commission (DC) soon. The memorandum would be signed by chief of every house in the village so as to apprise the Government that the entire village is with the martyr and wish the demands to be met.

Some ex-servicemen who attended the mahapanchayat also announced to honour family members of martyr Rajender Rana by organising a public function soon. “We will also appeal to the State Government through the function to give proper respect to the martyr by making announcement of accepting their demands,” they maintained.
