Taking a dig at “political jugglery” by Navjot Singh Sidhu for backtracking from his claim to form a new political party, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday said that the lukewarm response of Punjabis made the cricketer-turned-politician to change his stand.
“The people of Punjab have cold shouldered Sidhu and rejected his move to form new party. Now, Sidhu in the state of utter desperation has backtracked from his announcement and shelved the plan to form a new party,” he said while addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Rural Sports and Cultural Festival on the occasion of Aagman Purab of Baba Farid.
Taking on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he said that its political existence is so transient that it will soon fade away from the political scene of Punjab. “The party has drastically lost its significance in the state as the Punjabis have understood the deceitful policies of this new political outfit,” he said.
Sukhbir said that Punjabis are so much disenchanted with the AAP’s agenda for Punjab and claimed that this party would not successful even winning a single seat in the ensuing Punjab Vidhan Sabha election.
