ludhiana Court dismisses Majithia's plea to cancel Sanjay Singh's bail

In a setback to Akali leader and Punjab Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, a ludhiana local court on Monday dismissed his plea seeking cancellation of Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh’s bail.

The Court of ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ist Class (JMIC) Jagjeet Singh dismissed Majithia’s application wherein he was seeking cancellation of Sanjay Singh's bail in a defamation case which had been granted by the Court on February 8, 2016.

Majithia had argued that the bail granted to Sanjay Singh should be cancelled as he continued to give statements regarding his (Majithia’s) direct involvement in the drug trade in Punjab. Sanjay Singh’s counsel in the case and AAP leader Himmat Singh Shergill submitted before the Court that Sanjay Singh's statements regarding Majithia's involvement in drug trade “are statements of truth and that no one can stop Sanjay Singh from speaking the truth and that not Majithia but only the Court can decide whether an offence has been committed which warrants cancellation of bail”.
