Hundreds of Aadhaar cards were found abandoned in Bahu Jhholari village under Salhawaas police station in Jhajjar, about 30 km away from here.

Though it is yet to be ascertained that who indulged in this illegal act, the villages have charged the local post office administration with committing negligence in distributing the cards among the people concerned.

According to the information, the incident came to light when some villagers spotted the cards lying abandoned on the road. On inquiry, they found the cards pertaining to their village and also called the other villagers there for taking their Aadhaar cards.

A score of villagers rushed to the spot and started searching their cards. Several villagers reportedly also lifted the cards of other people leading to possibility of their misuse.

Ashok Kumar, a villager, told mediapersons that the villagers had been going to local post office to receive their aadhar cards since a long time but the post office employees sent them back every time and stated that the cards would reach their homes as and when the cards come to the post office.

“Since the matter is serious in nature hence the post office authorities should punish its guilty officials after carrying out a thorough probe in this regard,” said the villagers, adding that Aadhaar cards of many people are likely to be misplaced.

He maintained that the local post office was also informed about the incident but no one came there to find out about the situation.

The villagers informed that a private firm had come to the village some months ago to prepare their Aadhaar cards. After completing the process, the firm had informed that the cards would be dispatched to them by post within next three months.“Ever since, we had been in continuous contact with the post office employees to get our Aadhaar cards. It is an irresponsible attitude of the employees if they have deliberately dumped these cards on the road instead of distributing it,” said the villagers, adding that they were also contemplating to lodge a complaint against the post office with the district authorities in this regard. The local post office manager could not be contacted to get his version about the incident.
