listen to outcry of your father: SAD to Manpreet

: Shiromani Akali Dal on Wednesday asked the Congress-PPP combine candidate from Bathinda Manpreet Badal to listen to the anguished outcry of his father Gurdas Singh Badal in which the latter had bemoaned that he was being forced to take decisions against his conscience.

Describing Gurdas Badal's statement as “heart-rending”, the SAD general secretary HS Bains has appealed to Manpreet “to spare this agony to his father at such a ripe age…. Manpreet should listen to the voice of his esteemed father’s conscience and pain to which he had given an open expression while talking to newsmen at Bathinda on Tuesday”.

Bains pointed that Gurdas Badal, younger brother of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, “was being compelled because of his old age and dependence on others to oppose his brother and to act as a covering candidate for Manpreet as a Congress candidate”.

‘BJP ATTACK ON BADAl GOVERNMENT EXPOSES CHINKS IN AllIANCE’

Gurdaspur: Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday said that the public criticism of Parkash Singh Badal Government by its alliance partner, the BJP, had not only exposed the chinks in working of alliance partner but substantiated his party’s stand that all claims being made by this Government were bogus, hollow and without any basis.

Bajwa, who is seeking re-election from Gurdaspur, said: “BJP has described the state of governance in Punjab as poor while both Chief Minister and his Deputy son had been making tall claims of implementing governance reforms and cutting red tape to end corruption. BJP’s open criticism of the Government has only proved that the Badal government has only been misleading the people and building castles in the air.” He said that the BJP had to finally express its resentment about ill treatment being meted out by the senior alliance partner and the State bureaucracy was an indication that the party had to take this extreme step to give vent to its anger after having failed all other inner alliance channels. The editorial carried by BJP’s official mouthpiece “Kamal Suneha” betrayed the official line of the party, he pointed.
