Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Chief Administrator, Anil Malik on Wednesday held a meeting with poplar producing farmers, timber traders and commission agents in Yamunanagar and said that licences for the new timber market would be issued first to the existing traders.

Also, ‘Arht’ would be charged from buyers instead of farmers at the time of selling poplar wood, said he.

Malik also visited the site identified to set up timber market on Yamunanagar-Saharanpur road near village Mandauli.

He said that the proposed timber market was being set up temporarily for three years which would have all basic facilities so that farmers and timber traders do not face any problem.

On this occasion, he also sought information about the timber mandi set up at Manakpur near Jagadhari and constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jagadhari, Prem Chand. The committee would submit its report by February 10, he added.
