Kisan Morcha seeks bonus for farmers

Accusing Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Haryana Government of overlooking the farmers’ interest deliberately, national president of BJP Kisan Morcha, Om Prakash Dhankhar, has demanded the Government to announce Rs300 as bonus per quintal on wheat crop for farmers, who are struggling to earn their livelihood due to the rising cost of wheat crop.

Dhankhar, while interacting with the media in Jhajjar, said persistently growing agricultural cost due to inflation took a toll on poor farmers who now needed extra financial aid to cope with the crisis.

“When the State Governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are providing the farmers Rs150 as bonus per quintal on wheat crop then why is the Haryana Government not doing so for the welfare of farmers,” said the farmers’ leader, adding that the Hooda Government should announce bonus of Rs300 (Rs150 for this year and Rs150 for last year) per quintal on wheat crop so as to bail out them from crisis.

Dhankhar maintained the morcha had been raising the issue of bonus for a long time but neither the UPA Government at Centre nor Hooda Government in the State had paid any heed towards this burning issue.

“Moreover, the Congress Government did not implement the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission despite the farmers’ protest across the nation to get it executed but the BJP has included this issue in its manifesto and will implement it on priority if the party comes to power in Centre,” said the president.

Dhankhar informed PM Irrigation Scheme to provide water to every field in the state, Agriculture Income Insurance Scheme to ensure the fixed earning for farmers and Social Health Card Scheme to provide scientific knowledge to the farmers about their crops would be launched if the BJP forms Government after lok Sabha polls, he added.
