Khattar's swearing-in shifted to HUDA Grounds

The venue for the oath-taking ceremony of Manohar lal Khattar as new Chief Minister of Haryana on October 26 has been changed due to security concerns. The new venue will be HUDA Grounds in Sector 5. Earlier, the venue was Tau Devi lal stadium in Sector 3.

“The venue has been changed due to security reasons. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s national president Amit Shah are expected to attend the function, besides several Chief Ministers and other dignitaries from different States, who are scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony on October 26”, confirmed Shakuntla Jakhu, Chief Secretary of Haryana.

The decision to shift the venue was taken at a high-level meeting on Wednesday, which was attended by Chief Secretary, other senior officials of Haryana Government and two main organisers of this function from BJP including Anil Vij, MlA from Ambala cantt and Rattan lal Kataria, MP from Ambala.

Vij said they are expecting more than one lakh people from not only Haryana but also from other States. According to sources, the Tau Devi lal stadium, earlier venue, has not only shortage of space to accommodate such a huge gathering but has also not enough place for parking hundreds of vehicles which are expected to converge on that day. Moreover, the roads leading to the stadium are also not in good condition, for a programme of a Prime

Minister level, hence it was decided to change the venue, said an official.

Security concern was another basis for shifting the venue. Tau Devi lal stadium is situated at the bank of ‘Ghaggar’ out of Panchkula city, which is considered less safe for the VVIPs, who are coming here to attend this programme here, said another police official.

In the swearing-in ceremony, few newly elected MlAs and senior leaders of BJP including Ram Bilas Sharma, OP Dhankar, Anil Vij, Kavita Jain and Prem lata are expected to take oath as Cabinet Minister immediately after the swearing in ceremony of Manohar lal Khattar as new Chief Minister of Haryana.

Organisers have decided to set up three dais at the venue including one main dais for  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Chief Minister designate Khattar. The remaining two dais would accommodate five hundred VVIPs each. There would be separate provision for drinking water to the supporters of various BJP MlAs.
