To position Haryana as a preferred investment destination and to attract investors, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar will lead a high level delegation to Singapore and Hong Kong from May 21 to 25.
The Chief Minister will lead the delegation comprising Industries Minister Vipul Goel, industrialists, and officers of the Industries Department to Singapore and Hong Kong.
While the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea last year, the foreign trip was postponed due to the Jat agitation and the golden jubilee celebrations of the state.
The Chief Minister along with a state delegation had last year visited China and Japan to attract investments for the state while in 2015, Manohar lal had visited US and Canada.
Ahead of the foreign tour this month, the Chief Minister held a meeting with representatives of Singapore-based and other industries in the state.
Manohar lal, while addressing the representatives during the meeting held in New Delhi said that the foreign visit is aimed at encouraging the prospective investors of these countries to invest in the State.
He said that to develop Haryana as a preferred investment destination was among the top priorities of the government, and significant efforts were being made in the direction. The proposed visit to both the countries would accelerate the pace of investment in the state, said he.
During discussions with the entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister also referred to his earlier visits to USA-Canada and China-Japan, and added that during these visits, the investors had shown keen interest in making investment in Haryana.
Industries Minister Vipul Goel, Principal Secretary Industries Sudhir Rajpal, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, Raja Shekhar Vundru and representatives of industrial houses based in Haryana were present during the meeting.
The Chief Minister, while talking to the mediapersons later said that he will lead a high level delegation to Singapore and Hong Kong this month with an aim to attract investments in the state.
The representatives from Singapore based industries and other industries in the state would also accompany the delegation during the visit, said the Chief Minister.
Following his last year’s tour of Japan and China in January 2016, the Chief Minister had boasted of huge investment being promised by the Wanda company of China alone and that overall the investments would be much more and would provide employment to lakhs of youth.
later, at the ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit-2016’,China and Japan were among the 12 participating countries and had also signed MoUs with Haryana Government related to various projects.
Khattar, who assumed power in October 2014, went for his first ten days tour abroad to the US and Canada in August 2015 and had claimed to have attracted investment of Rs 10,000 crore in the state and employment opportunities to be created for about 40,000 people.
However, the Chief Minister has attracted severe criticism from the opposition—Congress and INlD—for visiting foreign countries and ignoring the development of the state.
The opposition had also alleged that while the State Government had made tall claims about attracting investments, only few foreign investors had come forward for setting up new ventures in Haryana.
