Khattar criticises Opp for interrupting Guv's address

At the receiving end of opposition’s criticism on SYl canal issue and Jat quota stir, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar on Friday came down heavily on the Opposition legislators for interrupting Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki’s address and termed the incident as “condemnable act”.

From quoting 15th century famous poet Kabir to using self coined colourful couplets, the Chief Minister in his more than one hour address while replying to the debate on the motion of thanks to Governor’s address, slammed both INlD and Congress.

Manohar lal picked apart the Congress for staging a walkout during Governor’s address on Monday and then, tearing the address copies even as the Congress benches were empty in the House on Friday.

On the other hand, he criticised the INlD legislators for wearing black arm bands during Governor’s address.

Alleging Congress leaders’ role in inciting the Jat quota stir last month while referring to the arrest of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s close aide Prof Virender Singh, Chief Minister Manohar lal also hit out at the Congress for its failure to resolve the long pending SYl canal issue during their ten years tenure in Haryana.

Quoting Kabir’s couplet “Nindak niyare rakhiye aangan kuti chhawaye, Bin sabun pani bina nirmal karat subhaye”, the Chief Minister while taking a dig at the Congress for not attending the House proceedings said, “Nindak aise humein bhi kuch mil gaye, jo uth bar bar bahar jaye  or bulane par bhi vapis na aaye.”

Continuing his tirade against the Congress, Manohar lal alleged that Congress had a pre-planned strategy to remain outside the House during the budget session as they knew that SYl canal issue would be discussed in the House.

Condemning a resolution passed by Punjab Assembly on Friday to not allow the construction of SYl canal at any cost, the Chief Minister said that it seems that the SYl issue is raised by SAD Government in Punjab to gain political mileage during ensuing assembly elections in the state.

Replying to the request of leader of opposition and INlD senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala to bring a condemnation resolution against Punjab Assembly for defying Supreme Court’s directions, the Chief Minister said that the State Government would present its viewpoint in the Supreme Court along with resolution passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Training his guns against at the Congress again, he said that the Congress did nothing to resolve the SYl canal issue during their ten years tenure in Haryana.

Barring Congress leaders, all political parties had attended the all-party meeting on significant issues of SYl and Jat quota stir, said he adding that the Congress boycotted the meeting on the pretext of not receiving a personal invitation.

Blaming Congress for inciting the Jat quota stir that turned violent claiming 30 lives last month, the Chief Minister said that the role of Congress party workers have been revealed in Jat agitation as their leader Prof Virender Singh has been arrested.

Accusing Congress for showing fake concern for the state of Haryana, Manohar lal taunted the opposition with couplet, “Mere Paas Se Guzar Kar Mera Haal Tak Na Puccha, Mai Yeh Kaise Maan loon Woh Door Ja Ke Roye.”

Even as the State Government miserably failed to maintain the deteriorating law and order situation during the Jat agitation, the Chief Minister patted his Government for the efforts and controlling the situation with the help of army and para-military forces.

Referring to the statement of Jat leader Hawa Singh Sangwan calling him a ‘Pakistani’, Manohar lal without naming the Jat leader said, “I am really hurt with the comments. I am the Chief Minister of the State but also an individual.”

“We have given a slogan of ‘Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek’ and such statements divide the communities, he said

“The State Government has provided assistance to the families affected due to the incident of violence, loot and arson during the Jat agitation and hopeful that they will establish themselves in next three months. So far, Rs 32 crore had been given as relief to affected persons,” he informed the House.

Manohar lal dwelt at length on the Jat agitation issue giving details of the initiatives taken by the BJP led State Government to assist the affected families and also, appealed to political leaders to ensure unity among various communities saying, “Ik darakht aisa mohabbat ka lagaya jaye, jiska humsaye ke aangan main bhi saaya jaye.”

Brimming with confidence after the success of maiden ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors’ Summit’, the Chief Minister said that 359 MoUs with investment of Rs 58,4000 crore were exchanged with potential investors. The Government will now ensure to generate employment opportunities for the youth of the state, he added.

On the issue of Rs five crore grant to every MlA, he clarified that the State Government will ensure developmental works of Rs five crore in every Assembly segment in the State.

The Chief Minister concluded his address with couplet, “Gham ki andheri raat mein. Dil ko na beqaraar kar. Subah zarur aayegi. Subah ka intazaar kar.”
