'Khadoor Sahib bypoll result to be last nail in Cong coffin'

Expressing confidence on the SAD’s victory in the impending Khadoor Sahib Assembly by-election, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday declared that bypoll results would prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the Congress party.

Exuding supreme confidence, Sukhbir said that the proud people of Punjab would again choose SAD-BJP Government over the Congress party which is embroiled in its own internal power struggles.

Sukhbir, addressing the SAD office bearers of Patiala, Roopnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib during his visit to review arrangements for Sadbhavna Rally to be held at Patiala’s Aviation Club Complex on December 15, said that the electoral battle had begun in the state and the side striking first would be the winner.

He said that the SAD rallies at Bathinda, Moga and Gurdaspur had seen hordes of people attending testifying to the affection people had for SAD.

Sukhbir said that the Patiala sadbhavna rally would be the “biggest” till date which would shake the very foundations of Moti Mahal.

“I have deliberately fixed the date of Patiala rally on the same day as Congress’ Bathinda rally so as to give it a shape of contest between state level rally of Congress and a rally of mere four districts of SAD,” he said.

Exhorting every Akali worker to participate in Patiala rally with family members, SAD chief said that no stone should be left unturned to make it a success spectacle.

“Congress party owed a reply to the people of the state about the innocent people killed in fake encounters during dark days of terrorism as per the revelations of former cop Gurmeet Singh Pinki. The accusations raised by Pinki assumed significance as they were related to the period dating back 30-35 years when there were Congress Governments at both the State and Centre,” he said.

lampooning the state Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh’s statement of preferring mass contact programmes instead of big rallies, Sukhbir said that it was crystal clear that Capt Amarinder felt more at home in comforts of foreign countries whereas the leaders of SAD-BJP maintained regular contact with the people to solve their grievances.
