Kejriwal to meet Dhadrianwale today

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal is cashing in on opportunities to woo voters in Punjab, religiously. The Delhi Chief Minister is all set to visit Punjab, once again. This time, to meet Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, whose strong vote bank is hardly a political secret.

Not letting go any chance to take on the ruling alliance of SAD-BJP, Kejriwal would once again visit Punjab, expected to raise the issue of increasing lawlessness in the state, after meeting the renowned Sikh preacher Baba Dhadrianwale, who recently escaped a murderous attack.

With an eye on 2017 state Assembly polls, AAP has intensified its activities in Punjab, with Delhi Chief Minister making one after another visit to the state to raise significant especially burning issues.

Kejriwal has made one after another visits to the State to reach out to the voters ahead of the Assembly elections. Right from January, he is ensuring his presence in the state meeting the families of martyrs who laid down their lives fighting terrorists during the Pathankot attack, raising the issue of State’s distressed farmers following number of farmers’ suicide incidents, wooing Dalit voters, and what not.

Once against visiting the State, Kejriwal is expected to take on the Parkash Singh Badal Government for its failure to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

The Opposition parties, including AAP and the Congress, has all along been targeting the coalition Government for letting the goons ruling over the state, and failure of the state police force to curb the same despite owning the responsibility.

“Akali-BJP Government has lost all control over the law and order situation in the State. It is complete lawlessness prevailing with people feeling threatened at every time,” said and AAP leader, adding that Kejriwal will, “for sure”, raise this “big issue” confronting the State today.

The meeting would take place at Baba Dhadrianwale’s headquarter, Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dawar, in Patiala on Wednesday, and “he is expected to meet the press after that”, said the AAP leader.

Baba Dhadrianwale survived a murderous assault allegedly by men from radical Sikh group Damdami Taksal last week in which his associate was killed. Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhumma has justified the attack.

Following the attack, leaders of all major political parties of the state — SAD, Congress, AAP, and others — have made a beeline to meet the Sikh preacher considering his large number of followers.

Senior AAP leaders, including state party affairs in-charge Sanjay Singh and state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, were among the first ones to pay the visit to Baba Dhadrianwale after attack on May 17.

Day after the attack, Kejriwal had called up Baba Dhadrianwale to know his wellbeing and had also offered condolences at the killing of his aide Bhupinder Singh.
