The Kapurthala district administration on Friday celebrated World AIDS Day in the district Modern Jail in view of the death of five jail inmates suffering from HIV positive in a span of last one and half years.
At present, there are 113 HIV positive jail inmates and the celebration helped them understand about the dreaded disease. District and Sessions Judge R.S. Rai, Chief Judicial magistrate Sanjeev Kumar Kundi who is also Secretary District legal Authority, Jail Superintendent Gurpreet Singh Gill besides district police officers and specialist Doctors of local civil hospital attended this awareness camp.
The Jail authorities have set up a separate cell in the jail complex and lodged all the 113 HIV positive inmates there, according to Jail Superintendent Gurpreet Singh Gill.
