Going a step ahead,  former Punjab Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia on Friday dared all political parties to make their accounts public.

“When demonetisation can bring people on board as far as black money is concerned, why not political parties are also not instructed to do so,” he said.

Kalia’s assertion came amidst political debate on bringing transparency in political funding and parties’ accusing each other for deliberately not doing so.

Favouring the idea of bringing political parties under the ambit of Right To Information (RTI) Act, Kalia said: “It is also must to bring political parties under the jurisdiction of RTI Act to bring transparency in the political system.”

Terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move as a positive step to smoothen the country’s economy, Kalia said that the day is not far when figure of GDP of India would be 12 percent.

Accepting the harassment being faced by public due to shortage of new currency, Kalia said: “People at large have welcomed the demonetisation. Yes, there may be some shortcomings, which can be taken care of in the days to come.”
