The 2nd Tournament of CGA Juniors 2013 will be played on 28th and 29th September at Forest Hill Golf Resort here.
Chandigarh Golf Association started the programme “CGA Juniors” in 2010 with the main to improve the competitive spirit among junior golfers and give due recognition to achievers. Officials said that the idea is to work for the overall development of golf among junior golfers and to support financially and logistically junior golfers in playing various courses both within and outside India.
"The final goal of this programme is to prepare young golfers for achieving a medal in golf in Olympic Games 2016," a CGA official said. This year 74 participants are taking part in the tournament in respective categories. The Category "A" is for players between 15-17 years of age, Category "B" for those between 13-14 years, Category "C" for 11-12 years, Category "D" for 8-10 years and Category "E" for 5-7 years. While A, B, C and D Categories will be playing 36 holes over two days, category E will play 9 holes each day for two days. Apart from the winner in each category, there will be prizes for 1st Runner up and 2nd Runner up as well. Trophies will also be given to the Schools for the achievement of Teams representing various schools in all five categories.
All participants will be given a gift hamper of golfing items like T- Shirts, golf balls, tees and golf cap. CSR Reddy, President CGA informed that prominent players participating include Feroz Garewal, Jairaj Sandhu, Vivek Gupta, Karandeep Kochhar, Jaiveer Sandhu, Kartik Digvijay Singh, Aadil Bedi, Vasundhara Thiara, Manjot Singh & Jujhar Singh. Prize Distribution will be held on September 29 at CGA Golf Range and lt. Gen. TS Gill, will be the chief guest.
