Judge SAD-BJP Govt on basis of performance: Badal

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday called upon the people to judge SAD-BJP Government themselves, only on the basis of its performance, rather than the hollow and baseless criticism by any other political party just to mislead the public.

Badal, addressing the public during second day of Sangat Darshan programme in seven villages of Talwandi Sabo assembly constituency, categorically mentioned that it was only their Government that had initiated “this unique programme to establish a personal contact with every individual at grass root level for resolving their pains and agonies”.

Making it clear that there was “no political motive” behind Sangat Darshan programme, Badal said that it was solely based on the principle that for the creation of a healthy society, it was essential that all three components of the society — public, elected representatives and bureaucracy — must sit together and work in unison.

“All the collective and demand based decisions taken during Sangat Darshan would be displayed on the boards in respective village to make everyone familiar with the concern of the Government,” he said.Badal, over few complaints received on the occasion, directed the administration to immediately conduct a survey for allotting houses to poor and needy families, besides financial assistance for house repair to some of them.

Referring to the efforts being taken for State’s overall development, the Chief Minister said that he had already directed all the departments to prepare their comprehensive reports on various ongoing projects along with bottlenecks so that he could be able to take up all these issues one by one with the Prime Minister and other concerned Union Ministers during his next regular visits to New Delhi.

“My recent maiden visit was very successful…every Union Minister I approached gave assurance to give fulsome support and cooperation in the greater interest of the Punjabis,” said Badal.

He said that the State Government, under new changed scenario at the Centre, was also preparing a road map to further implement its pro-farmer and pro-poor policies in true letter and spirit. “The diversification in agriculture, power and industrial growth are major sectors where State would strive hard in order to tap huge potential besides other sectors,” he added.

The previous -led UPA Union Government had always tried to incapacitate the Punjab government’s development plan and hindered the smooth functioning in the State,” added Badal.
