Jat leaders on Thursday threatened the Haryana Government to launch another agitation if their demands related to reservation are not fulfilled soon.
Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti state head Hawa Singh Sangwan on Thursday said that the State Government is backing out of its promises made to the Jat community and forcing the Jats to launch another agitation in June.
“The lok Sabha session was adjourned sine die on Wednesday and the Haryana Government failed to put up a request with the Centre to include the reservation law in the 9th Schedule read with Article 31B of the Constitution of India. This was promised by the BJP led Haryana Government, said Sangwan while addressing mediapersons in Bhiwani.
Reacting to the statement of BJP MP from Kurukshetra, Raj Kumar Saini that atleast 300 persons from 35 communities had prepared their petitions against the other backward classes (OBC) quota for Jats, Sangwan said that we are also prepared to file 301 petitions to challenge quota given to such communities.
As many as 30 people were killed, more than 300 were injured and property worth hundreds of crores of rupees was destroyed during the Jat quota stir in Haryana in February.
All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) national president Yashpal Malik has also threatened Haryana Government to launch another agitation in June in the state if the Government fails to release the innocent youth arrested in connection with violence during the Jat quota stir.
He has also demanded that the State Government must give compensation to family members of those, who lost lives in earlier stirs. All families should be compensated but the State Government has released compensation of Rs 10 lakh to only nine families, said Malik.
After the Jat stir in February, the BJP led State Government had in March passed a bill in the State Assembly to provide reservation to Jats and five other communities in government jobs and education. It will give 10 per cent reservation to these communities in government and government-aided educational institutions and Class-III and IV government jobs. It also envisaged 6 per cent reservation for them in BC 'C' category in Class-I and II jobs.
The Jat community, however, is now also demanding withdrawal of all cases registered against Jats during the agitation and release of innocent youth arrested in connection with violence during the Jat stir.
