Pressing for their demand of Jat reservation in government jobs and educational institutions, Jats have begun their four-phase agitation.
Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) led by its chief Yashpal Malik on Wednesday met Union Minister Birender Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum demanding him to raise the Jat reservation issue in Parliament.
The ABJASS had announced to re-start its agitation for quotas in jobs and education for its community from November 28 and in the first phase, the memorandums would be submitted to all MPs from Jat-dominated areas at their Delhi residences by the people of their constituency to raise the issue in the Parliament.
During the meeting with the Union Minister, Yashpal Malik urged him to raise their demands with BJP and also, in Parliament.
Union Minister Birender Singh said that he has always been in favour of Jat reservation. He will take up the issue with the party and also with Chief Minister Manohar lal to fulfil the promises made during the Jat quota agitation earlier this year, said Birender Singh.
Apart from Birender Singh, the ABJASS also submitted memorandums to MPs Rattan lal Kataria and Ramesh Kaushik.
After the first round of agitation, the Delhi-based Jat leaders would submit memorandum to BJP national executive at its headquarters in Delhi to throw out such politicians from the party who have insulted and abused Jats. In the third round, a Bhaichara Yatra would start on December 3 from Rohtak and culminate at Mayyar in Hisar district after which the fourth round, that of indefinite dharna, would begin.
The fresh agitation would be third after the February Jat quota stir, which had witnessed unprecedented large-scale violence killing at least 30 people and destructing properties worth crores. The second agitation was organised in June, which ended peacefully.
