Reacting to the allegations of the Opposition that the State Government is hiding its failure and thus, reluctant to order a judicial inquiry into the violent Jat quota stir, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday said that IPS Parkash Singh, who is heading the inquiry Commission is an outsider and if required, the Government would consider ordering another probe into the matter.
When asked about the Congress’ allegations on BJP for conspiring to divide Haryana on caste basis during the agitation and derogatory remarks being issued by BJP leaders to incite the agitation, the Chief Minister said that an inquiry is already going on into the matter.
Notably, the State Government had on February 24 appointed retired IPS officer Parkash Singh “to inquire into the acts of omission and commission on part of officers of both police and civil administration during the Jat quota agitation which resulted in violence, blockade of roads and extensive damage to public and private properties”.
However, the Congress has demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the violent Jat agitation.
Responding to the question of State Government’s failure to nab Prof Virender Singh, former political advisor to the ex-Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Manohar lal said that separate teams of police had been constituted to nab Prof Virender Singh against whom arrest warrants had been issued in a sedition case.
He said that as soon as any information about Prof. Virender Singh is received, he would be arrested. Had Hooda assisted the police, Prof Virender would have been arrested so far, the Chief Minister added.
Replying to a question whether he had grown phenomenally in stature due to the success of Summit even after the violent Jat agitation just a fortnight ago in the state, he said that it is upto the people to measure my stature.
The Chief Minister also took a dig at the Opposition saying those who were saying that the State Government would fail to attract any investments, can see the response during the summit.
