The Jat community on Monday gave six day ultimatum to Haryana Government to withdraw cases registered against Jats in connection with violence during the quota agitation held in February.

The Jat Mahasabha held at  Kalayat (Kaithal) on Monday decided to begin ‘Jail Bharo Andalon’ from May 1 to press for their demand.

More than 2000 criminal cases have been registered in various police stations of the state in connection with the reservation agitation.

A day before, the Jat Ekta Manch had organised a mahapanchayat at Chara village in Jhajjar district where it asked people to support its ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ scheduled to begin on May 1, to press for the release of Jat youths arrested in connection with the quota stir.

All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) national president Yashpal Malik, who attended the mahapanchayat, had said that his group would hold a meeting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on May 10 to discuss the issue.

The Jat quota stir in February had claimed 30 lives and left more than 300 injured in the state as Haryana witnessed large scale violence with rampaging mobs looting and setting shops on fire, burning government and private buildings and vehicles and clashing with security forces.
