A delegation of "Jameen Bachao, Kisan Bachao" Sangharsh Samiti, which is holding an indefinite sit-in on the issue of land acquisition in Manesar, on Tuesday met former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In its memorandum, the committee informed that the government is acquiring 1810 acres of land in Kasan, Khoh, Kukdaula, Sahrawan villages of Manesar at a very low price. This is a great injustice to the farmers. Hooda, while supporting the demands of the farmers, said that the land acquisition policy made by the Congress government had kept the interests of the farmers at the top. Under the Land Acquisition Act, the consent of 70 per cent of the farmers is necessary for land acquisition. He said that the farmers have been giving peaceful dharna for a long time for their legitimate demands.
