Jakhar lashes out at Dy CM for immature statements

Taking serious note of “immature statements misguiding people of the State” over the power surplus status to Punjab, leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday lashed out at Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for his tall claims of State being power surplus.

“The traders and people of the state have been facing the power cuts regularly,” said Jakhar. Jakhar reminded Sukhbir that he had assured the Vidhan Sabha on July 17 that the conditions of power cuts will improve within 15 days and had also claimed that the people of the State will get 24-hour power supply.

“Though the requirement of power supply has come down due to sufficient rainfall but various sections of the traders and people have unrest due to the continuous power cuts,” pointed Jakhar, also the leader of Congress legislative Party (ClP).

Jakhar criticised Deputy Chief Minister for his words that the Congress-led Central Government has not supplied sufficient coal for state’s power plants. He also raised question mark over his claims that there is NDA Government at the Centre so there would be no dearth of coal for power plants of Punjab.

“Deputy Chief Minister must clear position of the State Government related to power shortage or other problems in fulfilling the people’s demands,” demanded Jakhar.

He said that the Akali Government had assured the power surplus State within three years since the Assembly election of 2007. “Now seven years has been over but the State Government could not even fulfill people’s demands,” he said.
