In its drive to curb drugs menace in the State, the Punjab Government on Wednesday dismissed jail police personnel allegedly involved in supply of drugs to jail inmates, posted at Kapurthala Central Jail, barring him to join any Government office in future.
“Ajmer Singh was head warder at Central Jail, Jalandhar, at Kapurthala. He had helped Amritpal Singh, an inmate in jail, to purchase heroine worth Rs 1.48 lakh. During the inquiry, Ajmer Singh was found guilty, and thus dismissed,” said a spokesperson of State Government.
The investigative officer had submitted in his report that “due to illegal and unethical activities of the head warder, the image of the Government and Jail department has blemished so it is not in favour of the Department to continue the services of Ajmer Singh.”
Spokesperson further said that Surinder Singh, Superintendent Headquarter Jail, Gurdaspur as a competent Authority dismissed Ajmer Singh and according to the rules he has been barred to join any Government office in future.
