Former Congress leader and convener of the ‘Pehlan Punjab — lok Hit Abhiyan’ Jagmeet Singh Brar on Monday announced that he would launch a grand alliance of like minded political forces from Sarabha Nagar, the land of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha on August 15.

Addressing a Press conference here, Brar said the Grand Alliance might take shape of a political party if required. He said, “Punjab needs a political force, which does not have the imprints of SAD and Congress and the Grand Alliance will be open for committed leaders with clean image, from Congress and SAD too.” Brar said, “I will meet people of Namdhari lehar, Akali lehar, Arya Samaj, Singh Sabha and Praja Mandal etc. to come forward to form an issue based alliance, for the welfare of Punjab and Punjabiyat.”

He said the prime motive of the grand alliance would be to eradicate nepotism and monarchy from State politics. Training his guns against ruling Badal family and Capt. Amarinder Singh, Brar said both these families were the biggest examples of nepotism and monarchy.

Reacting on the political prospects of Navjot Singh Sidhu, he said “As Navjot has announced to work for the welfare of Punjab, I will personally go and invite him to join the Grand Alliance on August 15.”

He said “The scenario in Punjab politics has changed a lot in the last two weeks and by August 15, this scene will be more different.” There will be a mass exodus of suffocated and sidelined leaders from traditional parties like Congress and Akalis,” claimed Brar.

He said he would visit all the 117 constituencies in 35 days from August 25 to generate support for the grand alliance.
