For Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the resignation of former Deputy Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's stalwart lal Krishan Advani is an "internal matter".
A day earlier, BJP's ally in Punjab, SAD was showering praises on the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to the post of chairman of BJP's election campaign committee for the 2014 lok Sabha polls terming it as "master stroke" and "beginning of decimation of UPA-II". The very next day, SAD president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said "it is an internal matter of the party."
He added, "Akali Dal is with the BJP...we have nothing to do with Advani's resignation."
Sukhbir has all along been claiming that Akali Dal was an inseparable part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and would continue to support the saffron party in all its moves.
