Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) is trying to revive terrorism in Punjab, but police has been successful in pre-empting their “nefarious designs”, State DGP Sumedh Singh Saini said on Thursday.
"Pakistan's ISI tried to revive terrorism in peaceful Punjab, but the State Police busted several terrorists modules," Saini said.
He said 42 hardcore militants have already been arrested in the past few years.
"Punjab Police foiled ISI's at least 11 major terror strikes in the past by cracking the modules before executing their operation," he said.
He said that Punjab police is "fully prepared" to foil "nefarious designs of ISI".
Adding further, he said that during the last 32 months, ISI tried its best to disturb the hard-earned peace and communal harmony in the State.
The Punjab Police had been to most parts of the world like the United Kingdom, Thailand, Malaysia and even various States in India — including Madhya Pardesh, Mumbai and Delhi — to catch the perpetrators of terrorism, who were under the strict instructions and training from ISI, he said.
