Irani flayed for lack of action against those who insulted Bhagat Singh

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday slammed Union HRD minister Smriti Irani for allegedly hurting crores of Indians by not taking action against those who disgraced Shaheed Bhagat Singh by quoting him as ‘terrorist’ in Delhi University books. AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi asked the Union Minister to resign on moral grounds. Ghuggi criticised the previous Governments of Punjab and the Centre for forgetting the martyrs who laid down lives for the country’s freedom. The families of the martyrs are forced to survive in a bad condition due to the apathy of the Governments, said he. “It is surprising that great martyrs of this country are admired by the foreign Governments but our Government has not done the needful in this regard.  AAP Government will set up Chairs in the name of Bhagat Singh in the Universities of Punjab, so that youngsters could do research and be inspired from the life of martyr,” Ghuggi added.

“If Shaheed-E-Azam was a terrorist then why did the Government install his statue in the Indian ParliamentIJ The British judgment described him as ‘true revolutionary’ but his own countrymen are disgracing him. We demand immediate removal of the book that quoted the great martyr as terrorist from the syllabus of the Delhi University and strict action should be taken against the people responsible,” added the AAP leader.
