Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Monday said more than 100 programmes would be organised in the State to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21. 1,000 vyayamshalas would be opened in rural areas in the first phase to take yoga to each individual in Haryana, said Manohar lal, while speaking after inaugurating the two-day Yoga Prashikshan Shivar organised at Panchkula.
The Chief Minister said that though facilities of parks are available in almost every town and city to carry out physical exercise, there is a need to provide similar facilities in villages to revive our old sports traditions like yoga, wrestling and Kabbadi. Keeping this in view, the State Government has decided to open 1,000 Vyayam Shalas in the villages in the first phase. Each vyayamshala would be set up over an area of two acres of land to be provided by the village Panchayat, he added.
Attending the camp, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that the State Government will put in place a system as per which yoga would be practiced before the start of school, colleges and offices. “Haryana Government would set up vyayam and yogshalas in all 6,500 villages of the State,” he added.
State Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar said that State Government has acknowledged the power of Yoga and would celebrate the International Yoga Day in a big way. Adding to this, Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that with the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 177 countries in UNO have acknowledged the power of Yoga and decided to observe June 21 as International Yoga Day.
