The infighting in Haryana Congress came to the fore yet again on Tuesday when senior party leader Madhusudan Mistry convened a party meeting to look into the complaints related to organisational elections.
Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Mistry has been deputed by the party high command to look into the allegations leveled by some party members related to members lsit prepared for organisational elections.
The party State president Ashok Tanwar, ClP leader Kiran Choudhry, State returning officer Pradeep Kumar Jain remained present at the meeting held by Mistry, who met district election observers and other party members deputed for carrying out work related to Congress internal polls.
While former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda stayed away from the meeting, his loyalists party leaders, MlA Shakultala Khatak, BB Batra and others reached the party office and alleged tampering of members list.
Amid sloganeering by Tanwar supporters in his favor, Hooda supporters alleged that members list given by them have not been included and the State party chief Tanwar has fudged the figures.
Hooda supporters had submitted more than 60 objections related to members list.
Earlier in June, the legislators owing allegiance to Hooda had heated exchange with Ashok Tanwar over voters’ list during a meeting held under Pradeep Jain, a former Union Minister and pradesh returning officer for the organisational poll in the State.
During that meeting, MlAs Karan Singh Dalal, Geeta Bhukkal and Kuldeep Sharma had alleged that no draft voters’ list was been displayed by the party’s State unit and members enrolled by them for district and State organisational elections had not been included in the final list.
Following such complaints, the party high command had deputed senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry to look into the complaints related to organisational polls and submit a report on this. Mistry will convene one to one meeting with aggrieved MlAs and other party leaders.
After Tuesday’s meeting, Mistry while talking to the mediapersons said that he will look into the complaints submitted by party members and will submit a report to the party high command. Whilst, Ashok Tanwar denied allegations leveled by some party leaders. Tanwar said, a transparent procedure was followed and computerised list of members were made. There was no tampering with the lists, he said.
Adding to this, ClP leader Kiran Choudhry said that senior leader Mistry held a meeting with district returning officers, election observers. Organisational polls would be held as per its schedule in the State, she said.
Meanwhile, former Haryana Speaker and MlA Kuldeep Sharma on Tuesday again demanded change in party State leadership.
The loyalists of two-time former Chief Minister Hooda have been demanding ouster of State Congress chief Tanwar, who has been at loggerheads with the former since the State assembly polls in 2014. The feud between the two leaders had escalated after the party workers clash in New Delhi last year where Tanwar had sustained injuries and blamed Hooda for the attack.
last month, Hooda and his son, Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda had also met party chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi to discuss current political scenario in the State.
