The Punjab Transport Department has decided to establish an Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) at Kapurthala.
A spokesman of the Punjab Government said that ITDR would be established at village Thikriwala of Kapurthala district with capital funding by Central and a State Government agency.The IDTR would be nodal institute for providing training to the trainers as well as drivers of commercial vehicles so as to reduce the number of accidental deaths. The institute will also act as auditing agency for all the driving training institutes working in the state and would provide infrastructure for conducting training courses on training to trainers, drivers of heavy and commercial vehicles and drivers transporting dangerous or hazardous goods.
