The city is one of the co-hosts for the 8th Theatre Olympics which is being held for the first time in India. On Sunday, Tagore Hall at Chandigarh saw the Hindi play ‘Karname Aur Khel’, directed by Collaborative. This presentation is a collection of three stories - Ek Stree ke Karname by Suryabala; Anavrit Kaun by Raji Seth; and Khel by Sanjay Sahay. The stories bring forth the relationship between man and woman, and also the inner struggles of an individual.
On Monday, Chandigarh will see the Hindi production Khawb Sa by director Atul Kumar and presented by The Theatre Company, Mumbai. Inspired by the bizarre and extraordinary quality of a human dream, the play presents an ensemble of 16 dancers, actors, singers and musicians, all weaving together a landscape of Shakespeare’s fantastical vision, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The city will also witness Neelam Mansingh Chowdhry at the living legend series.
The Chandigarh chapter of Theatre Olympics 2018 is organised by National School of Drama (NSD) under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and in collaboration with Department of Cultural Affairs Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy and Haryana Kala Parishad.
