leader of Opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala on Wednesday lashed out at the Manohar lal Khattar led Haryana Government for allegedly betraying the people of the state on the issue of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal.
The INlD leader while talking to the mediapersons accused the BJP led Haryana Government of deliberately delaying the SYl issue.
“The State Government is doing just paperwork to delay the issue. During the all party meeting, it was decided that a letter would be sent to President and Prime Minister seeking their time to meet a state delegation on SYl
issue. Though it was decided that a copy of this letter would be given to all parties, I have not received any copy of the letter till now,” said Chautala.
He said that after the Punjab Government returned the SYl canal project land to its owners in the state, Haryana Government should have taken a strong step in this regard but the government has failed to do so.
The INlD leader also said that if the BJP led Centre and State Government fails to complete SYl work by February 23, the INlD will start a state-wide protest and I, along with my party workers and people of Haryana would start digging up of the SYl canal.
On the other hand, Haryana senior Minister Anil Vij said that the State Government is serious on the SYl canal issue and it would ensure that the people of Haryana get their water share from Punjab.
The Chief Minister has written to the President and Prime Minister seeking their time to meet a delegation comprising all political parties of Haryana on SYl issue. The SYl issue was also discussed during a meeting held by the Chief Minister with Council of Ministers and senior bureaucrats on Wednesday.
