A delegation of Indian National lok Dal (INlD) MPs, MlAs, Haryana party chief Ashok Arora and other senior leaders led by Abhay Singh Chautala met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of decision to declare tractors as commercial vehicles.
The delegation was assured by the Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi that the Government is ready to give a second thought to the decision to declare tractors as commercial vehicles.
The Union Minister also asked the INlD not to stage sit-ins protest of the toll policy of the National Highways Authority since now that he was made aware of the problems, he was willing to revisit the policy, said an INlD spokesman.
Gadkari also invited the INlD to hold a meeting with him and his officers on December 12, and discuss the matter in detail. Accordingly, the INlD has decided to visit Delhi again on the said date to apprise the Union Minister of the problems and the nature of damage it would do to the rural economy unless the decisions were reversed, he said.
In view of the assurance given by Union Minister Gadkari, INlD has decided to send a team to Delhi to discuss the subject with the Minister and his officials, he added.
