The Indian National lok Dal (INlD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which recently announced their alliance for 2019 parliamentary and assembly polls in Haryana, have geared to jointly launch ‘Jail Bharo Andalon’ from May 1 in Bhiwani to press for the demand of construction of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal.

Prominent state leaders of INlD-BSP combine will participate during ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ to protest against the BJP led Central and State Governments’ inaction on the SYl canal issue and would demand its construction.

The INlD-BSP, during their joint protest, will also raise the issues including implementation of Swaminanthan report, construction of Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project, compensation for farmers affected due to damage to standing wheat crops due to fire incidents,  loan waiver for farmers.

The very next day, the alliance partners will meet on May 2 at Kurukshetra during the INlD’s state executive committee meeting to chalk out a strategy to launch an agitation against the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana.

“The INlD-BSP has geared up for the statewide protest ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ which will begin from May 1 in Bhiwani. The party leaders and workers of INlD and BSP will court arrest to raise the issues related to the farmers,” said leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly  and INlD’s senior leader, Abhay Singh Chautala on Monday.

Hitting out at the ruling BJP, Chautala said that the BJP led Central and Haryana Governments are deliberately delaying the construction of SYl canal. We will launch ‘Jail Bharo Andalon’ from Bhiwani to raise our demand and will hold the protest in other districts also, he added.

Abhay Chautala has written to all sarpanches, panches, traders’ associations and farmers organizations urging them to extend their support to party’s ‘Jail Bharo Andalon’.

After the agitation at Bhiwani, the ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ will be held on May 4 in Yamunanagar, May 8 in Nuh, May 11 in Sirsa,  May 15 in Narnaul,  May 18 in Kurukshetra, May 22 in Fatehabad, May 25 in Palwal and May 29 in Kaithal.

Upping the ante against the ruling BJP on SYl canal issue, the INlD had organized Kisan Sammelan in the national capital on March 7.

last year also, the INlD had held a series of protests including blocking the national highway near Ambala and four other highways in Haryana, another protest at Haryana-Punjab border and at Jantar Mantar in the national capital to demand construction of SYl canal.

About INlD’s executive committee meeting to be held on May 2, Chautala said that BSP state leaders will also attend this meeting. The INlD-BSP will chalk out strategy to launch an agitation against the ruling BJP on the issues of deteriorating law and order situation, scams and BJP’s anti-farmer and anti-people policies, said he.

The incidents of heinous crimes against children are increasing in  Haryana and unfortunately, the State Government has failed to curb such incidents. The INlD-BSP  combine will discuss this issue at the meeting on May 2, he added.

Eyeing political revival after being out of power since 2005, the INlD had recently announced to join hands with the BSP for 2019 crucial polls.

The INlD had already announced that on return to power in Haryana, the loans of the farmers would be waived off and the agriculture related electricity bills would not only also waived but their domestic bills too would be halved.

The party has also promised implementation of Swaminathan report, withdrawal of denotification order of Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project and construction of SYl canal.
