Haryana’s main opposition party, Indian National lok Dal (INlD) has begun indefinite protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from Thursday onwards, pressing for their demand of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal construction.
The INlD workers led by leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly and party’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala protested at Jantar Mantar to mount pressure on the BJP led Central Government to intervene in the SYl issue and get it constructed as per Supreme Court directions.
After the protest at Jantar Mantar, Chautala while talking to the mediapersons said that the party demands construction of SYl canal, implementation of Swaminathan report, waiving off the loans of Haryana farmers as done by Uttar Pradesh government.
Chautala alleged that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal is not serious about the construction of SYl. The CM has even failed to take an appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to urge for his intervention in the SYl issue, said the INlD leader.
He said that the party would continue its fight for the rights of people of Haryana. The INlD will continue its protest till the SYl construction begins, he added. Senior party leaders would be present at Jantar Mantar protest while an MlA would join them every day. An MP would join the protest every week, he added.
